University of Konstanz

We have modernised the lighting in the library and other areas at the University of Konstanz. Thanks to our fast and effective lighting refurbishment solution, we were able to create the perfect lighting conditions for a pleasant learning environment to promote concentration, productivity and focus, while also increasing the university's energy efficiency.

Since its foundation in 1966, the University of Konstanz has developed into an important university in the region and throughout Germany. Around 11,000 students are currently enrolled at the University of Konstanz in over 40 degree programmes in a wide range of disciplines.

The university has made a name for itself through its excellent research and teaching, particularly in the fields of environmental sciences, cognitive sciences and innovation research.

The right light is a decisive factor, particularly in the context of teaching and learning, to promote learning ability and concentration through a positive room climate. While excessively dark or uneven lighting can lead to fatigue and reduced performance, good lighting conditions stimulate productivity and creativity.

Efficiency is also at the centre of the refurbishment process.

The central place of learning for most students is the university library. As students spend a lot of time here, concentrating hard, the lighting is all the more important.

This is why the University of Constance relies on our QUICK-FIXdc luminaire-in-luminaire system in its library. During the refurbishment of the library, the outdated fluorescent tubes were easily replaced with modern LEDs. The existing luminaire brackets were simply reused for this purpose.

In order to further expand the new lighting concept, other parts of the university are also being refurbished with our QUICK-FIXdc system. In this way, the university is not only ensuring the best quality of light for students and staff, but is also taking another important step towards environmental friendliness: the long service life and high efficiency of the LEDs minimise energy consumption and maintenance requirements, thereby increasing cost efficiency.
